Innovation Program of IRB Brasil RE and MAG Seguros opens enrollment period

The Insurtech Innovation Program, an open innovation program of IRB Brasil RE, MAG Seguros and PUC-Rio, launches its fifth edition in digital format to enable the participation of undergraduate students from anywhere in the country. Interested candidates can apply until January 17th, 2022 at

The program, which lasts for one year, is coordinated by the Risk Management Institute of PUC-Rio and offers 24 vacancies. The objectives of the initiative include the development of undergraduate students and company employees with innovative technical tools and knowledge that generate a positive impact on the insurance and reinsurance market through innovative solutions. In 2020 alone, according to data from Susep, an agency that regulates this market, the sector recorded revenues of 274 billion Reais, and now it has a 3.7% share of the Brazilian Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

The selection process includes reviewing the completed forms and submitting materials, including making videos, producing a timeline on personal and academic life, and a description of the candidate. The second step consists of personal interviews.

The release of the results is scheduled for the end of January, and students regularly enrolled in undergraduate programs can participate. The program will start in the first half of March 2022, with completion scheduled for the first quarter of 2023. There is no age, course or location limit for participation.

All selected people will be entitled to internship grant, and students must be daily available in the afternoon period – as the program activities will be carried out from Monday to Friday, from 2 pm to 6 pm, initially 100% online.

Throughout the program, students will be divided into multidisciplinary teams to propose solutions to challenges in various topics related to the insurance and reinsurance market, in addition to developing knowledge of innovation and technological tools such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, internet of things and blockchain.
