IRB Brasil RE informed, on this Monday (March 22nd), in a statement sent to the market and shareholders, that it made available a monthly periodic report delivered to the Federal Insurance Commissioner (Susep), through the Periodic Information Form (FIP). The presented figures confirm the trend of improving results for this year.

In order to help understanding it, since FIP meets the accountability required by the regulatory entity, the reinsurer made available, on its Investor Relations website (https://ri.irbre.com), a spreadsheet with the financial data regarding January 2021, which reconciles such information with the “business view” model already used by the company in its periodic disclosures.

Below  are some highlights for January:

  • Gross revenue (issued premium) of BRL813.6 million, an increase of 29.9% with respect to January 2020, from which BRL463.8 million in Brazil and BRL349.8 million abroad. In Brazil, this represents an increase of 110.7%, with a reduction of 13.9% abroad. The result is aligned with the strategy of focusing on businesses, sectors and markets that can add value.
  • Period revenue (earned premium) of BRL410.9 million, an increase of 20.9% compared to the earned premium for January 2020.
  • Loss ratio (claim expenses/period revenue) of 70.6% in the period, equivalent to a claim expense of BRL290.1 million, a loss ratio already expected by the company.
  • Earnings before taxes – profit of BRL30 million, a significant improvement compared to January 2020, which presented a negative result of BRL190.2 million.
  • Net income of BRL17.9 million, compared to a net loss of BRL132 million in January 2020.

During this period, there were no one-off events worth mentioning. The results of the continued and/or discontinued businesses will only be reported quarterly, at the time of disclosing the Quarterly Information (ITRs).
