IRB Brasil RE announces Hugo Daniel Castillo as the ninth director of the Board of Directors

IRB Brasil RE announced today, July 01st, in a Notice to the Market, Hugo Daniel Castillo as the ninth director of the company’s Board of Directors. The indication was confirmed yesterday night, and his election was included in the agenda for IRB Brasil RE’s Ordinary and Extraordinary General Meeting, called for July 31st. The increase in the maximum number of directors that can be part of the Board of Directors, from eight to nine, was approved during the last Extraordinary General Meeting, on June 23rd.

 

After the election of Hugo Castillo, IRB’s Board of Directors will be comprised by nine directors, with eight of them being independent ones. They are: Antônio Cássio dos Santos – Chairperson; Regina Helena Jorge Nunes – Official (independent); Ivan Gonçalves Passos – Official (independent); Henrique José Fernandes Luz – Official (independent); Marcos Pessoa de Queiroz Falcão – Official (independent); Marcos Bastos Rocha – Official (independent); Roberto Dagnoni – Official (independent);Ellen Gracie Northfleet – Official (independent, waiting to take office); and Hugo Daniel Castillo (independent, subject to election during the OEGM).

 

Castillo has forty-years experience in the reinsurance sector, having developed, over the last years, a career at General RE Argentina, where he worked as P&C Regional Officer for Latin America, Spain and Portugal. He was also an executive director of the Board of Directors at the same General RE Argentina, and executive director responsible for the P&C contracts for Continental Europe, Middle East, South Africa and Latin America. Before it, he was responsible for the development of the company’s offices in cities like Paris, Madrid, Moscow, São Paulo and Buenos Aires, and worked as president at General RE México. IRB’s new director has also worked for Munich RE Canadá, Bradesco Seguros and Sul América.

 

“Hugo is a professional with a vast experience, a life dedicated to the specific activity of Reinsurance in Brazil, Latin America and Europe. I am sure he will have a large contribution to make to the formulation of our regional, Re-Underwriting and Risk Appetite strategy”, says IRB’s chairperson of the Board of Directors and CEO, Antonio Cassio dos Santos.

 

Isabel Blázquez Solano – IRB Brasil RE also confirmed the promotion, announced in April of Isabel Blázquez Solano, Reinsurance executive officer appointed in the articles. The executive’s new position was based on the amendments to the company’s articles of organization in an Extraordinary General Meeting on June 23rd. For taking office, it depends on the regulatory approval by Susep.

 

Isabel works at IRB Brasil RE since 2013, having worked as Subscription, Property & Casulaty International, Oil & Gas, and Retrocession officer. She has also worked at Mapfre RE in Germany and Spain.
