IRB(P&D), the IRB(Re) division dedicated exclusively to research and development, is hosting the 2nd IRB(P&D) Forum on August 6th in Rio de Janeiro. With the theme “Risk Transfer: Strategies and Innovations,” the event will bring together representatives from the insurance and reinsurance market, the public sector, and experts from Brazil and abroad.

“Once again, the forum will enable the exchange of ideas and discussions between leaders from the public and private sectors. This cooperation is important to find solutions that serve society. Complex issues, such as climate change and risk transfer, require attention and dedication. These issues pose significant challenges. Knowledge is essential for proper risk transfer. And without risk transfer, our country’s economic development is limited,” says Marcos Falcão, CEO of IRB(Re).

“Last year, at the 1st IRB(P&D) Forum, the focus was on climate risks and natural disasters. In 2025, the agenda continues to address climate risk assessment, but expands to include innovations and new risk transfer mechanisms, such as the application of artificial intelligence in pricing and insurance and reinsurance analysis. We want to discuss ways to offer broader protection, without losing sight of the centrality of the climate issue,” explains Eduarda de La Rocque, Director of Internal Controls, Risks, and Compliance at IRB(Re), responsible for IRB(P&D).

For the second consecutive year, the forum is supported by the National Confederation of Insurers (CNseg). Dyogo Oliveira, president of the organization, emphasizes the importance of different sectors sharing their perspectives: “By bringing together topics such as innovation, artificial intelligence, and resilience in the face of extreme events, the 2nd Forum makes a concrete contribution to strengthening the insurance market as a strategic agent of sustainability and economic stability. Discussing risks and proposing paths forward is what allows us to transform uncertainties into opportunities.”

Open by invitation only, the 2nd IRB(P&D) Forum will bring together figures such as Frederik Bisbjerg, vice president of eData Information; Simon Solvsten, European Center for Risk and Resilience Studies at the University of Southern Denmark; Stuart Calam, research leader in Technological Risks at the WTW Research Network; Stéphane Loisel, Chair in Actuarial Science and Risk at CNAM Paris/Lirsa; and Anderson Ribeiro Correia, president of the Institute of Technological Research (IPT).

Representatives from CNseg, Susep, the Ministry of Finance, the World Bank, the IDB, Bradesco Seguros, Brasilseg, Tokio Marine, and Pottencial Seguros, among other institutions and companies, will also participate.
